HB63

Louisiana HB63 repeals the procedure for placing a defendant's name into the National Crime Information Center registry.

Louisiana HB63 repeals Code of Criminal Procedure Article 331(G), which previously allowed a surety to request the placement of a defendant's name into the National Crime Information Center registry after a failure to appear and warrant issuance. The bill retains the current law regarding the discharge of bail obligations. It also repeals the requirement for officers to determine if the placement is authorized by the NCIC registry within 30 days of the request and the provision for notice to the surety of the reason for nonplacement if the placement is not authorized.
