Louisiana HB558, known as the "Teacher Pay Modernization Act," mandates adjustments to public school teacher salary schedules to align with Southern regional averages. For fiscal years 2027-2028, 2028-2029, and 2029-2030, school governing authorities must reduce the difference between their district average and the Southern regional average by at least 25%, 50%, and 75%, respectively. By fiscal year 2030-2031, district averages must equal or exceed the Southern regional average.
