Louisiana HB542 amends existing law to include law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge who patrol levees, waterways, and riverfront areas, or bridges, in the list of eligible officers for supplemental pay of $600 per month. Eligible officers must have completed one year of service, be hired after March 31, 1986, and have completed a council-certified training program. This change applies to officers employed by bona fide police agencies of the state or its political subdivisions, excluding the Department of Public Safety and Corrections and the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
