HB535

Louisiana HB535 amends the acknowledgment of paternity process in hospital-based programs.

Louisiana HB535 modifies the acknowledgment of paternity process for hospital-based programs. It requires both parents to sign the acknowledgment form, which must be authenticated by a notary public. The law specifies that this acknowledgment has the same legal force as an authentic act for changing or recording paternity with the state registrar of vital records. Notably, it eliminates the need for two witnesses to be present or sign the acknowledgment. This change does not apply to parents under the age of 18, who must establish paternity through other legal means.
