HB531

Louisiana HB531 revises student disciplinary processes, particularly regarding suspensions and expulsions.

Louisiana HB531 modifies student disciplinary procedures, focusing on suspensions and expulsions. It allows parents to request a review by the school board for expulsion decisions, even if reduced to a suspension. The bill also removes the right to appeal to the district court if the expulsion recommendation is reduced to a suspension. The school board retains the authority to affirm, modify, or reverse the superintendent's decision. The changes aim to streamline the review process and clarify parental rights in disciplinary actions.
