Louisiana HB513 regulates compensation for the name, image, and likeness of intercollegiate and interscholastic athletes.
HB513 amends Louisiana law to allow intercollegiate and interscholastic athletes to earn compensation for their name, image, and likeness, subject to certain restrictions. The bill mandates that postsecondary education institutions and high schools adopt policies governing these activities. It prohibits institutions from preventing athletes from obtaining professional representation. For interscholastic athletes, compensation agreements must have parental consent if the athlete is under 18.
