Louisiana HB496 establishes minimum surface injection pressure limits for saltwater disposal wells in Bossier, Caddo, and Webster Parishes. The bill prohibits the secretary of the Department of Conservation and Energy from setting limits below 0.5 pounds per vertical foot for wells deeper than 1,200 feet that inject less than 3,000 barrels per day, and 0.25 pounds per vertical foot for wells injecting 3,000 barrels or more per day. For wells up to 1,200 feet deep, the limit is set at 0.25 pounds per vertical foot.
