Ment Text

Louisiana HB49 amends the Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System and the Firefighters' Retirement System by adjusting the criteria and timing.

HB49 modifies the Municipal Police Employees' Retirement System (MPERS) and the Firefighters' Retirement System (FRS) by altering the criteria for determining when an employer is deemed to have partially dissolved its police or fire department. The bill increases the minimum number of employees required for a partial dissolution from two to three for MPERS, effective from the June 30, 2024, valuation. It retains the three-employee threshold for FRS.
