Louisiana HB431 requires mayors of municipalities with a population of 15,000 or less to complete at least 16 hours of additional training and continuing education annually. The Louisiana Municipal Association will establish training courses within specific categories of municipal governance. Mayors must attest to their compliance with these training requirements using a form provided by the legislative auditor. The auditor will maintain a public list of compliant and non-compliant mayors. Effective January 1, 2027.
