Increases the maximum balance of the Hazardous Waste Site Cleanup Fund to $8M and requires annual adjustments based on CPI-U.

This bill increases the maximum balance of the Hazardous Waste Site Cleanup Fund from $6M to $8M. It also mandates that, starting January 1, 2027, the state treasurer must annually adjust the maximum balance by the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U). The fund, which receives sums from the hazardous waste tax and sums recovered from judgments, settlements, and assessed civil and criminal penalties, is used for funding the operating expenses of inactive and abandoned sites activities, defraying costs associated with hazardous waste sites, and.
