Louisiana HB390 allows domestic abuse survivors to take up to three days of unpaid leave annually for recovery and legal actions.

Louisiana HB390 mandates that employers with 50 or more employees allow domestic abuse survivors to take up to three working days of unpaid leave in any 12-month period. This leave can be used for medical care, mental health counseling, obtaining services from victim service organizations, psychological counseling, relocation, or legal actions related to the abuse. Employers may request documentation such as a scheduled appointment confirmation, a protective order, a police report, or a court summons. The law also prohibits employers from retaliating against employees who take this leave.
