HB388

Louisiana HB388 prohibits unsolicited homeowner contact by contractors and increases fines for violations.

Louisiana HB388 amends existing law to prohibit contractors from engaging in unsolicited homeowner contact, including door hangers, business cards, magnets, flyers, pamphlets, text messages, emails, or unscheduled sales visits. The bill also increases the fine for violations from 10% to 20% of the total contract or the value of the work bid or being performed. The board or residential subcommittee will consider the circumstances and seriousness of the violation, cooperation from the contractor, and the history of previous violations when determining the fine amount.
