HB34

Provides relative to retirement eligibility in the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund (EN NO IMPACT APV)

Complete·5/11/26

Louisiana HB34 modifies retirement eligibility for the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund.

Louisiana HB34 changes the retirement eligibility criteria for members of the Sheriffs' Pension and Relief Fund (SPRF). It allows SPRF members who began their employment on or after January 1, 2012, and are over 50 years old with at least 30 years of creditable service to elect an actuarially reduced retirement benefit at age 55, instead of waiting until age 60. This change applies to those who are eligible for deferred retirement. The bill also specifies that the retirement benefit will become effective upon receipt of the member's written application by the board of trustees.
