Louisiana HB333 mandates that inmates be housed within 30 miles of their conviction or residence parish.
Louisiana HB333 amends the commitment of individuals to the Department of Public Safety and Corrections, specifying that inmates must be housed within 30 miles of either the parish where the criminal offense occurred or where the inmate was convicted, or the parish where the inmate resides. This law aims to ensure that inmates are not housed too far from their connection to the crime or their home parish, balancing treatment, training, and security needs.
