Louisiana HB330 amends existing laws to increase penalties for desecration of graves and institutional vandalism. For desecration of graves, the fine is increased from up to $500 to up to $1,000, and offenders must make restitution. For institutional vandalism, the fine for damages under $500 increases from up to $500 to up to $1,000, and for damages between $500 and $50,000, the fine increases from up to $1,000 to between $1,000 and $5,000. Additionally, when vandalism targets a religious building, the offender must make restitution.
