Louisiana HB170 amends existing law to define "construction contract" as any agreement for the design, construction, alteration, renovation, repair, or maintenance of improvements to real property. It also makes technical changes to the law. The bill declares unenforceable any provision in such contracts that requires disputes to be resolved in a forum outside Louisiana or interpreted according to the laws of another jurisdiction. This change applies to contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders entered into on or after September 6, 1991, but does not apply to negotiated labor contracts.
