Increases penalties for domestic violence offenses involving strangulation in Louisiana.

Louisiana HB160 amends existing law to increase the maximum penalty for certain domestic violence offenses involving strangulation. Specifically, the bill changes the maximum penalty from three years to ten years for offenses under R.S. 14:34.9(L)(1) and 35.3(L)(1). This change applies to crimes of battery of a dating partner and domestic abuse battery when strangulation is involved. The bill retains all other aspects of the current law.
