Louisiana HB140 revises the time limitations for juvenile delinquency proceedings. It changes the time frame for filing a delinquency petition from 48 hours to five days after a continued custody hearing. For children charged with a crime of violence and continued in custody, the adjudication hearing must commence within 120 days. For other cases, if the child is continued in custody, the hearing must start within 180 days. If the child is not continued in custody, the hearing must begin within 180 days.
