Louisiana HB1259 adds up to two extra years of imprisonment for felonies committed while wearing a mask to evade identification.

Louisiana HB1259 introduces a new law that imposes an enhanced penalty of up to two additional years of imprisonment for individuals charged with a felony or an offense under R.S. 14:329.7 who wear a mask or face covering with the intent to evade identification. This law does not apply to certain exempted persons and activities, such as those attending masquerade balls, wearing religious head coverings, driving or riding a motorcycle, or wearing a helmet or mask for medical purposes. The new law adds R.S. 14:313.2 to the existing statutes.
