HB1206

Louisiana HB1206 establishes water usage reporting and permitting requirements for data centers.

Louisiana HB1206 mandates that data centers with an annual water consumption exceeding 100 million gallons must obtain a permit from the Department of Conservation and Energy. The bill requires data center owners or operators to submit water usage reports to the department, detailing water input, sources, and usage effectiveness. The department must consider factors such as public health, water conservation technologies, and watershed health when issuing permits. The bill also mandates public hearings and notice to local governing authorities before issuing permits.
