Louisiana HB1188 mandates parental consent for minors using companion chatbots and sets usage restrictions.
HB1188 requires companion chatbot platforms to prohibit minors from using their services without parental consent. If consent is given, parents can monitor interactions, limit usage time, and disable third-party interactions. The platforms must also warn minors about the artificial intelligence nature of the chatbot and restrict harmful content. The bill defines "companion chatbot" and "minor," and outlines penalties for violations, including fines and civil actions.
