HB1183 amends Louisiana law to provide supplemental pay of $600 per month to probation or parole officers employed by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. To qualify, officers must be commissioned law enforcement officers, earn a minimum salary of $800 per month, complete a P.O.S.T.-certified training program, and have completed one year of service. Prior service as a full-time law enforcement officer in Louisiana can count towards the one-year requirement. This change excludes officers from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
