HB1125

Allows full-time firefighters in Louisiana to participate in state insurance programs if their employer opts in.

Louisiana HB1125 allows full-time firefighters employed by political subdivisions to join insurance programs managed by the Office of Group Benefits. This applies if the political subdivision chooses to participate. The bill prohibits any law, rule, or policy from preventing employers from making this choice. It also grants credit for prior participation in employer-sponsored health insurance plans. The changes take effect January 1, 2027.
