Louisiana HB1023 changes the process for selecting vocational rehabilitation counselors in workers' compensation cases.
Louisiana HB1023 modifies the process for selecting vocational rehabilitation counselors in workers' compensation cases. Currently, employers are responsible for selecting these counselors. The proposed law allows either the employer or the employee to request vocational services from the Office of Workers' Compensation (OWCA). The assistant secretary will then appoint a counselor from a list compiled by them. If the employer refuses to provide these services or if a dispute arises, the employee can file a claim with the OWCA.
