This resolution honors the life and legacy of Reverend Alfred Daniel "A.D." King, a civil rights leader and minister who was the brother of Martin Luther King, Jr. A.D. King participated in the African American freedom struggle, including a 1960 lunch counter sit-in in Atlanta. He became a leader of the Birmingham Campaign in 1963 and was a pastor at First Street Baptist Church. His life was tragically cut short in 1969, though the cause of his drowning remains undetermined. A.D.
