Kentucky SB72, the Health Care Heroes Recruitment and Retention Act, aims to address the state's shortage of health care professionals by protecting their rights of conscience. The Act prohibits the Commonwealth, its agencies, and political subdivisions from reprimanding, sanctioning, or otherwise discriminating against health care professionals or institutions for refusing to participate in health care services that violate their conscience. It also protects professionals who disclose information they reasonably believe shows violations of laws, standards of care, or gross mismanagement.
