SB63

Kentucky SB63 protects student journalists' freedom of speech and press in school-sponsored media.

Kentucky SB63, also known as the New Voices Act, aims to safeguard the freedom of expression for student journalists in school-sponsored media. The bill ensures that student journalists have the right to exercise freedom of speech and press in school-sponsored media, regardless of financial support or facility use by the school. It prohibits schools from disciplining student journalists for exercising these rights, except in cases where the expression is libelous, invades privacy, is obscene, violates federal law, or publishes information that federal or state law requires the school district.
