Kentucky SB318 sets a 45-minute daily limit on digital instruction for elementary students, including all subjects. Exceptions allow for assignments completed with paper and pen, daily access to traditional materials, and physical manipulatives in math and science. The bill prohibits replacing traditional teacher instruction and materials with digital instruction for reading, math, science, and social studies. It also bans requiring students to carry technology to and from school, replacing library time with technology reading labs, and assigning homework using instructional technology.
