AN ACT relating to health and family services.

Introduced·2/27/26
Bill Text

Kentucky SB301 establishes a prescreening and admissions review system for long-term care facilities and beds.

Kentucky SB301 amends the Kentucky Revised Statutes to implement a statewide prescreening and admissions review system for all long-term care facilities and beds. This system includes a resource means test to prevent inappropriate placements and contain costs. The cabinet must establish preadmission screening teams to determine if institutional care is necessary and if alternatives are feasible. Admission to a skilled-nursing or intermediate-care facility or acute-care hospital-based skilled-nursing or intermediate-care bed requires prior authorization from the cabinet.
