Kentucky SB149 amends the appointment and duties of county treasurers, including acting treasurers and deputy treasurers.
Kentucky SB149 modifies the appointment process and duties of county treasurers. It mandates that the fiscal court of each county appoint a county treasurer every four years, beginning in June. If the county treasurer is unable to perform duties due to illness, incapacity, or other reasons, the fiscal court may appoint an acting county treasurer. The acting treasurer serves until the original treasurer resumes duties or until the end of their term, whichever comes first. The fiscal court may also appoint a deputy county treasurer to assist the county treasurer.
