Introduced·1/23/26
Bill Text

Kentucky SB119 amends eminent domain procedures, including property repurchase rights and development timelines.

Kentucky SB119 amends eminent domain procedures by requiring the current landowner to be notified of their repurchase rights if the condemnor fails to develop the property within eight years. If the landowner refuses to repurchase, the property must be sold at auction. The bill also allows multiple current owners of subdivided land to bid on the condemned property if they share a boundary. The condemnor must accept the highest sealed bid equal to or greater than the original purchase price.
