Kentucky HJR88 directs the Department of Education to study expanding student access to free and reduced-price school meals.

Kentucky HJR88 directs the Kentucky Department of Education to conduct a comprehensive study on expanding student access to free and reduced-price school meals. The study will explore raising the eligibility income threshold from 185 percent to 250 percent of the federal poverty level. It will analyze projected increases in eligibility, estimated costs and savings, participation rates, and nutritional and academic benefits. The study will also compare alternative models for expanding meal access and review other states' policies.
