Introduced·2/26/26
Bill Text

Kentucky HB766 prohibits public postsecondary institutions from requiring students near 18 years old to reside in student housing.

Kentucky HB766 amends the state's education code to prohibit public postsecondary institutions from requiring students who are within six months of turning 18 to reside in student housing. The bill also bans institutions from imposing fines or fees for not residing in student housing or requiring a student housing contract as a condition of admission or enrollment. The provisions do not apply to students under 17 years and six months old unless parental consent is provided, to residential dual enrollment programs, or to the model and practice school.
