Kentucky HB539 introduces a new section in the Kentucky Revised Statutes to declare void and unenforceable any court ruling, arbitration decision, contract, or contractual provision that allows the application of Sharia or any foreign law, legal code, or system that denies the fundamental liberties, rights, and privileges guaranteed under the U.S. or Kentucky Constitutions. This provision does not affect existing Kentucky Supreme Court precedent, ecclesiastical matters, or entities that voluntarily submit to foreign law. It also does not apply where federal law preempts state law.
