Kentucky HB433 amends birth certificate regulations for adopted children.
Kentucky HB433 revises the process for issuing birth certificates for adopted children. It mandates that a new birth certificate be issued upon adoption, reflecting the adoptive parents as the biological parents unless court-ordered otherwise. The bill also requires the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to update its records when an adoption judgment is reversed or modified. If no birth certificate exists for a child born in Kentucky, the cabinet must prepare one based on the adoption order.
