Kentucky HB390 modifies the teacher certification process by requiring new and additional certifications to pass assessments selected by the Education Professional Standards Board. Successful completion of these assessments and an approved teacher preparation program results in a professional certificate valid for five years. If an applicant passes the teacher preparation program but fails the assessments, a conditional certificate valid for up to one year may be issued.
