HB276

Kentucky HB276 prohibits local governments from banning residents from keeping six or fewer backyard chickens.

Kentucky HB276 prohibits local governments from enacting or enforcing ordinances that ban residents from keeping six or fewer backyard chickens on residential property. It defines "backyard chicken" as a domesticated hen kept for personal egg production or educational purposes, excluding commercial farming or roosters. Local governments may still enact reasonable regulations to ensure health, safety, and welfare, including setbacks for coops, sanitation standards, and prohibiting commercial sales of eggs or chickens.
