Kentucky HB147 amends inheritance and estate tax rules, extending deadlines and modifying payment options.

Kentucky HB147 modifies inheritance and estate tax regulations by extending the deadline for filing tax returns and paying taxes. For estates with deaths occurring before August 1, 2026, taxes must be filed within 18 months and paid within 18 months, with a 5% discount for payments made within 9 months. For estates with deaths on or after August 1, 2026, taxes must be filed within 36 months and paid within 36 months, with no interest charged if paid within 36 months. Beneficiaries can elect to pay taxes in 10 equal installments if the net tax due exceeds $5,000.
