AN ACT relating to state personnel.

Introduced·1/7/26
Bill Text

Kentucky HB145 allows certain state officials to hire exempt personnel and adjust salaries.

Kentucky HB145 creates a new section in the Kentucky Revised Statutes to allow the State Treasurer, Auditor of Public Accounts, Secretary of State, Commissioner of Agriculture, and Attorney General to hire personnel exempt from the classified service for policy-making roles. It also permits these officials to increase the salary of classified employees up to the midpoint of their classification grade through administrative order. This bill operates independently of other state laws that might otherwise restrict these actions.
