Kansas SB6 bans the use of ranked-choice voting methods in all elections.
Kansas SB6 prohibits the use of ranked-choice voting methods in all elections, including federal, state, county, and municipal offices. The bill defines ranked-choice voting as a method where voters rank candidates by preference, with the lowest vote-receiver eliminated in successive rounds until a majority is reached. Any existing ordinances, resolutions, or regulations that allow this voting method and were adopted before July 1, 2025, are declared null and void. The act takes effect immediately upon publication in the statute book.
