Kansas SB492 requires law enforcement agencies to share records about officers related to criminal conduct or conduct giving rise to licensing or certification sanctions. Agencies must disclose such information to licensing authorities, the agency where the conduct occurred, or the agency providing the files if bound by a nondisclosure agreement executed after July 1, 2018. Agencies may redact personally identifiable information of others. The bill also mandates that applicants for law enforcement positions execute a written waiver authorizing the disclosure of their files.
