SB371

Kansas SB371 requires landlords to offer tenants the first opportunity to purchase their rental properties before selling to the public.

Kansas SB371 mandates that landlords must offer tenants the chance to buy their rental properties before listing them for sale to the public. The landlord must send a written notice to each tenant, detailing the material terms of the sale. Tenants then have the opportunity to submit an offer to purchase within a specified period. If multiple tenants submit offers, the landlord can choose one. The landlord can also counteroffer if the tenant's offer differs from the initial notice. If the tenant declines the offer, the landlord can then sell the property to the public.
