SB279

Kansas SB279 amends campaign finance and governmental ethics laws, modifying qualifications for ethics commission members, limiting advisory.

Kansas SB279 amends the campaign finance act and state governmental ethics laws. It establishes qualifications for members of the governmental ethics commission, prohibiting those who have been lobbyists, state contractors, or candidates for partisan political office. The act limits the issuance of advisory opinions by the commission, specifies expiration dates for subpoenas, and modifies campaign finance reporting requirements. It also limits when attributions are required in internet communications and eliminates the bar on candidacy for failure to pay fines.
