Kansas SB266 amends state law to require legislative approval before any high-impact electric transmission line can be constructed. High-impact electric transmission lines are defined as lines at least five miles in length and used for the bulk transfer of 340 kilovolts or more of electricity. Before construction can begin, an electric utility must obtain a siting permit from the state corporation commission and submit a proposal to the legislature. Legislative approval is granted when the legislature adopts a concurrent resolution to approve the construction.
