Introduced Text

Kansas SB256 mandates full-time state employees to work in their assigned locations, with exceptions allowed by agency heads.

Kansas SB256, known as the Back to Work Act, requires all full-time state employees to perform their duties in their assigned office, facility, or field location. Exceptions can be granted by agency heads for employees with nonstandard work hours, positions where in-office employment is deemed unreasonable, or due to office space constraints. The Department of Administration must report on the number of exceptions granted, job descriptions, building leases, and the percentage of remote or hybrid workers by October 1, 2025.
