SB239

Kansas SB239 adds 100 months to sentences for fentanyl distribution causing a child's death.

Kansas SB239 amends sentencing rules to add 100 months to sentences for distribution of fentanyl if the distribution results in the death of a child. The bill specifies that this additional sentence applies when the distribution of fentanyl causes the death of a child, emphasizing the severity of such offenses. The bill also repeals existing sections of the Kansas Statutes Annotated related to sentencing guidelines for drug and nondrug crimes, replacing them with new provisions that include this special rule for fentanyl-related deaths.
