Kansas SB235 makes it unlawful to sell, offer for sale, use, or distribute seeds coated with a pesticide containing neonicotinoids, such as clothianidin, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, dinotefuran, or acetamiprid. This prohibition takes effect on January 1, 2028. The governor can suspend this prohibition by executive order for up to one year if there is a lack of commercially available seed not treated with these pesticides and such a lack would cause undue financial hardship to agricultural producers. Any executive order must specify the type of seed for which the prohibition is suspended.
