Kansas SB209 provides a sales tax exemption for firearms, firearm accessories, ammunition, firearm safes, and firearm safety devices.

Kansas SB209 amends the sales tax law to exempt sales of firearms, firearm accessories, ammunition, firearm safes, and firearm safety devices from sales tax. The bill defines "ammunition" as ammunition, bullets, cartridge cases, primers, or propellant powder designed for use in any firearm. "Firearm" is defined as any weapon designed or having the capacity to propel a projectile by force of an explosion or combustion. "Firearm accessories" include items used in conjunction with or mounted on a firearm but not essential to its basic function.
