Kansas SB166 removes postsecondary degree requirements from state employment considerations.
Kansas SB166, known as the fostering competitive career opportunities act, removes unnecessary postsecondary degree requirements from hiring considerations for state employment positions. The act aims to address degree inflation, where employers increasingly rely on a postsecondary degree as an indicator of career readiness instead of relevant work experience. It limits opportunities for hard-working Americans and encourages unnecessary student debt. The act does not apply to positions filled by political appointment.
