Kansas HB2756 prohibits certain sex offenders from residing within 1,000 feet of any school property.

Kansas HB2756 amends the Kansas offender registration act to prohibit certain sex offenders from residing within 1,000 feet of any school property. A sex offender who is 18 years of age or older and required to register for their lifetime due to a conviction or adjudication for a sexually violent crime cannot reside within 1,000 feet of any school property. Exceptions are made for offenders who resided within 1,000 feet of school property prior to July 1, 2026, and those who move into a residence that subsequently becomes within 1,000 feet of school property.
